The eastern border of Vellarada Grama Panchayat is the state of Tamil Nadu. The boundaries are defined by Kunnathukal Panchayat to the south, Aryancode and Kunnathukal Grama Panchayats to the west, and Amboori Grama Panchayat to the north.

Topography and Environment

Being a hilly region, and a place where protected forest areas and the Western Ghats mountain ranges converge, the area receives abundant rainfall. Consequently, there is no shortage of water availability. It is assumed that the name Vellarada itself originated based on this ample water supply.

The border with Tamil Nadu, which is close to the Western Ghats, is characterized by rock clusters, plantation areas, and shrubs/bushes.

Flora and Economy

Various crops and trees thrive here, ranging from staples like Rubber, Banana, Coconut, and common fruit trees, to exotic varieties such as Rambutan, Pistachio, Avocado, and various foreign jack fruit species.

The main occupations in the region include rubber tapping, general agricultural labor, small-scale industrial ventures, and the marketing of agricultural products.

The Chittar, a tributary of the Neyyar River, originates in the Vellarada Grama Panchayat area. Additionally, the village has two small streams (Thods), 29 small and large ponds, and numerous natural springs (neeruravakal).
